Dear Friends,

With the experience gained in the journey of SHaDE, I would like to share the best shadows of SHaDE here.

Its been exactly an year (joined SHaDE by Dec 1, 2010 officially) I was associated with SHaDE, though its been functional for past three long years. I should definitely mention that this one year had given me lots of experiences, learnings, responsibilities, … with which I was able to identify different ‘ME’.

I would personally like to say ‘Thanks’ to Raghavan alias Saravanan M on behalf of all SHaDE members/volunteers and beneficiaries,  for standing beside us in all our good/bad times. Thanks once again! Kudos to you Anna!  This is the way I used to address him, and later found that most of his friends are addressing him like this. :) I hope most of you agree with this and for those who are getting puzzled why we celebrate him specially, please do take time to get in touch with him, you will understand better.

Ah ! The post is getting diverted about Raghavan instead of SHaDE. Is’nt it? Somehow we cant miss talking about him when we speak about SHaDE. Mathematically this is how the equation goes.

Okies , coming to the point, below are the highlights of SHaDE during past one year!

1. Andhra Chapter was successfully initiated with a beneficiary named Adhinarayana, to whom we are helping from March 2011 till date. He is the first beneficiary of SHaDE from Andhra chapter who is a differently abled  senior citizen . His family expenses, grocery expenses , medical expenses and  rent are borne by SHaDE. If you are interested to join us and residing in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh or any parts of Andhra, you are welcome to facilitate this appeal and also spread our shadows in Andhra Pradesh.
2. Chennai Chapter was successfully initiated during March 2011 to take over the appeals that are from Chennai and identify, support the beneficiaries located in Chennai.
3. As an yearly special event, we distributed notebooks to the students of our regular beneficiaries LOTUS, Salem and Sevalayam, Madurai on 20th June 2011.
4. As another yearly special event, we distributed uniform to the students of Udhavum Ullangal, Adambakkam, Chennai on 2nd July 2011.
5. August 1, 2011 was a great day to be remembered as it holded a special meaning ‘3rd Anniversary of SHaDE’.
6. To mark it as a celebration, we celebrated our 3rd year anniversary at “Krishna Chaitanya Special School“, Bangalore, on 21st Aug 2011.
7. A new venture named SSS - SHaDE Sponsored Student is successfully launched by identifying a student.
8. SCGP - Sodexho Coupon Gathering Program is successfully launched and the collected coupons are being sent to our beneficiary LOTUS, Salem.
9. On the occasion of Children’s day, visited “Sheila Kothavala Institute for Deaf“, Bangalore and conducted Art Competion for the kids.
10. Apart from these, we were taking appeals on demand.
11. In association with ‘Team India Shirts‘, conducted raffle with themes like “Indian Cricket Team Jerseys“, “TShirtRaffle 2011“, “Independence Day Jerseys“.
12. One of our beneficiaries named Sreyasi to whom we supported for her education got placed in Cognizant Technology Solutions. We wish her a great success.
13. Paypal has been integrated with SHaDE’s account in order to facilitate the fund transfers from various countries.
14. The website has been re-designed by Raghavan and the same can be evidenced here. Those who had seen the older website would definitely feel the difference.
15. A forum was set up successfully with the combined effort of Raghavan and Jhanani(myself) and the same is used as a platform to have discussions at one place, rather than floating eMails.
16. The concept of monthly User Group Meeting was introduced where in we volunteers would meet up and discuss about the activities. The meetings are scheduled to happen on every first sunday of the month. We are also proud to say there was an International call during Oct 2011, where the volunteers/members from abroad joined the meeting over bridge call.

By God’s grace and support from all of you, we were able to spread our shadows in various directions.
